Contracts exchanged!

The planets aligned and we exchanged contracts on the land at Whatcombe Fields today, the day of the eclipse!

Anna managed to see the eclipse whilst cycling past the fields in the morning and says “A skylark was singing and two grouse scuttled through the fields. Magical.”

We hope to complete the purchase next Friday, 27th March, and then the fields will be ours. Thanks a million to everyone who has helped to raise the fabulous total of £325,000 in such a short time.

A celebratory picnic is planned for Sunday 26th April from midday. Shareholders will be able to collect their share certificates then, although anyone who can’t make that date will have theirs delivered to them immediately afterwards.

(thanks to Sue Bucklow whose photo I have borrowed....!)

Council support for the campaign

Delighted to report that Frome Town Council have agreed to contribute £35,000 towards our Save Whatcombe Fields campaign

Please invest too if you can. Minimum investment of £250 represents about 10 square metres of the fields - in other words a really big family-sized camping pitch!

Click on the microgenius box to the right or on this link (http://www.microgenius.org.uk/project/save-whatcombe-fields-26) to invest online. Or you can write a cheque to "Save Open Spaces Frome" and drop it into the Council office on Palmer Street in Frome.

If you can't afford £250, donations of any amount are also really welcome and will help to save the fields too.
